Our charitable programs include a domestic violence prevention center and shelter, and we provide scholarships and educational support for students attending an all-girls Catholic high school in the Chicago area.

 

Franciscan Ministries is searching for a Director of Philanthropy to join our team at the Home Office in Lemont, IL. The Director of Philanthropy & Planned Giving at Franciscan Ministries provides leadership in securing philanthropic support for the organization's mission. This role encompasses strategic planning, administration, and direction to achieve goals and initiatives. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Prospective Donor Identification and Planned Giving Program: Identify, evaluate, and track prospective donors, and execute a comprehensive planned giving program to increase donor numbers and contributions.
  • Guidance on Planned Giving Activities: Provide support and training to the management team and ensure proper acceptance and completion of planned gifts.
  • Maintaining Positive Relationships: Foster collaborative relationships with Executive Directors, Grant Writer, associates, and donors.
  • Gift Planning and Major Donor Solicitation: Work directly with gift planners and donors to explore giving strategies and maintain a prospect portfolio.
  • Community Presentations and Publicity: Make presentations at local organizations and attend relevant events to increase publicity.
  • Metrics Development and Analysis: Develop metrics to aid in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting planned gifts, and monitor and analyze these metrics.
  • Development Calendar and Newsletter: Create a development calendar and publish newsletters to inform donors about programs.
  • Grant Research and Legal Document Review: Research potential grants, obtain End of Life bequests, and review legal documents.
  • Professional Development: Remain current on development and fundraising strategies through participation in seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  • Policy Development: Develop policies for long-term pledges, estate gift commitments, and donor recognition.
  • Advice on Gift Acceptance and Management: Provide guidance on the acceptance and management of complex gifts.

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • 3-5 Years of fundraising and philanthropic experience required; greater than five years preferred. 
  • Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) preferred.
