The primary responsibility of the Resident Care Associate is to promote the dignity, independence, self-determination, privacy, choice, and rights of the residents at CopperWood. This role involves assisting residents with activities of daily living, medication reminders, and social and spiritual pursuits to the best of their abilities. The Resident Care Associate will render personal care to residents as needed, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. Additionally, the Resident Care Associate will support dining room services, maintain cleanliness in common areas and resident suites, and actively contribute to the development and implementation of resident service plans.

 

Specific Tasks/Duties:

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) and medication reminders, including identification of physical and cognitive changes, documentation, and communication to appropriate staff.
  • Assist residents with leisure time programming, including escorting them to and from activities.
  • Assist dining services with mealtime serving, clearing, and setting of tables.
  • Assist with resident laundry, including personal washing and bedding change.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma/GED
  • Applicable Experience: Paid or volunteer experience in working with seniors/disabled
  • Professional Memberships, Licensures, Certifications: None

Essential Functions:

  • General Working Conditions: Work throughout the assisted living unit, subject to frequent interruptions, constant interactions with residents, staff, and visitors, exposure to unpleasant odors and infectious waste.
  • Physical Demands: Move intermittently throughout the unit, constant standing and walking, stooping, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, and assisting in resident transfers, ability to assist in evacuations.
  • Mental Acuity Requirements: Relate to and work with the elderly and disabled, cope with mental and emotional stress, recognize physical and cognitive changes in individuals, make independent decisions.
  • Sensory Requirements: See and hear adequately to assess residents' conditions and communicate effectively.

Technical/Motor Skill Requirements: Ambulate residents, provide bathing and personal grooming, operate equipment such as washing machines and hydro-tubs.
