The Director of Life Enrichment is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Executive Director. This position will also ensure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.
As a Director of Life Enrichment you will be responsible for:
Specific Tasks/Duties associated with this position include:
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs a holistic approach to activities, life enrichment and resident engagement around the development of the Seven Dimensions of Wellness.
- Creates, updates, and coordinates the community Newsletter.
- Assists in arranging transportation for community outings.
- Recruits and selects competent staff within budgeted guidelines.
- Develops, recruits, and manages a Volunteer Program.
- Provides management of performance enhancements, annual reviews, and terminations in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Ensures department supplies and activity resources are purchased, stocked, and updated in a timely manner within budgeted guidelines.
- Serves as a communication liaison for families regarding resident engagement, scheduled programs, and updates within the life enrichment department.
- Delegates the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary, to other responsible department personnel, to maintain the operations of the department.
- Understands the physical and emotional needs of residents in all service lines (SNF, ALU, ILU) and plans appropriate programming based on recreational theories and needs of the population.
- Maintains knowledge of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards through attendance of educational programs and in-services, as needed. Maintains working knowledge of any technology platforms that are instructed for use for the life enrichment department.
- Participates in the development and implementation of activity care plans and resident assessments. Involves residents and family members in the planning of activities. Attends and reports on resident engagement (i.e., interests, needs, adaptations, trends, etc.) at resident service plan meetings (or equivalent) as instructed.
- Performs administrative requirements, such as completing necessary forms, reports, etc., and submitting to the Executive Director as required. Attends all required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as instructed.
- Maintains a productive working relationship with the Corporate Director of Life Enrichment and Memory Care, clinical departments and other health related facilities and organizations, as well as coordinates activities with other departments.
- Works collaboratively to meet departmental and facility needs which may require the performance of other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Transports residents on outings/trips and assists the department as assigned.
We are currently looking for a Director of Life Enrichment to join our team! To qualify you need a:
- Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year institution; Certified Activity Director preferred but a minimum of an Associate’s degree (or 3-5 years’ experience in a Life Enrichment or equivalent department in a senior living setting
- 3-5 or more years of supervisory experience in a senior care setting that included a memory care setting preferred
- Must be reliable, energetic and self-motivated who truly enjoys working with the senior population.
- Experience with LifeLoop and iN2L preferred.
- Experience with PCC preferred.
