Overview

Position Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating nursing care for residents in conjunction with the MDS assessment process on a designated unit.  The Unit Manager builds, nourishes, and maintains good working relationships with the nursing staff, department directors, residents, and their families.  This individual is also knowledgeable about the RAI process and the development of resident care plans.

 

Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the nursing process to all appropriate staff and evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing care for all residents on the unit.
  • Facilitate communication of the plan of care.
  • Supervise all nursing care being delivered on the unit by providing supervision, direction and guidance to unit nursing staff.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, coordinate, and complete MDS assessments in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the facility.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with families, keeping them updated on resident status changes and progress and providing documentation.
  • Participate in facility and nursing CQI program.
  • Monitor RUGs group.
  • Participate in QI meetings or teams.
  • Facilitate communication to all other disciplines in regard to Unit activities and the MDS/POC process.
  • Supervise the Medicare requirements for documentation and ensures services billed are given.
  • Remain educated and stay abreast with assessment skills, knowledge of gerontological nursing, dementia care, and State and Federal Regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.

 

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

Licenses/Certifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license & current CPR certification

Experience: 3+ years of nursing management experience

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care.
  • High degree of integrity.
  • Strong communicator and capable of leading change.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and deadlines concurrently.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records, Point Click Care experience preferred.
