Overview

Position Summary

As a valued Life Enrichment Lead (LEA-L) you will be responsible for enhancing, supporting, and advocating for the quality of life for all those served in the community through fostering a culture of engagement. The LEL will be responsible for helping to develop and implement a variety of recreational activities, events, and therapeutic engagement opportunities that adhere to the 7 dimensions of wellness the Ministry champions through an inter and intra-departmental collaborative approach ensuring resident optimal wellbeing.

 

Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a passionate advocate to create and maintain a culture of engagement by actively promoting and championing Life Enrichment services throughout the community (internally and externally).
  • Encourage, motivate, inspire, and minimize barriers for residents to participate in daily activities and engagement opportunities (scheduled and unscheduled).
  • Assist the Life Enrichment department with administrative tasks, including but not limited to copying, typing memorandum (i.e., monthly calendars), and answering phones.
  • Lead and assist with group and one-on-one activity programs.
  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities.
  • Ensure daily programming is implemented efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide guidance and support to Life Enrichment Assistants throughout the shift.
  • Ensure activity attendance and participation is documented timely, thoroughly, and accurately.
  • Provide feedback to the department leader for calendar and service plan creation.
  • Modify and facilitate unexpected daily program and department needs in collaboration with department leader.
  • Monitor and gather feedback from residents, families, and Associates to support department leaders to improve, enhance, and maintain department services.
  • Assist in training new Life Enrichment Associates.
  • Assists with special department projects and events.
  • Support all levels of care for life enrichment services as needed.
  • Escort residents to and from activities.
  • Drive community bus for Life Enrichment outings and/or resident medical appointments while following proper safety operational transportation guidelines including but not limited to help on and off the vehicle, assistive device securement, proper utilization of emergency contact list binder.
  • Support process of documentation completion (service plan assessments, progress notes, activity attendance and participation, and more) necessary to be compliant with state and federal regulations and Ministry standards.
  • Utilize the community engagement system.
  • Utilize community medical records system.
  • Attend and participate in meetings including care plans, in-services, resident council, Life Enrichment department, among others as needed.
  • Assist with volunteer engagement.
  • Assist with maintenance of community pet (where applicable).
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and neat environment for residents including activity engagement spaces.
  • Ensure programs are properly set-up and cleaned-up before and after scheduled and unscheduled programs.
  • Regularly support with set-up and clean-up of appropriate seasonal, celebratory, and holiday community décor.
  • Complete ongoing continuing education through the Relias platform and other department/community ongoing required training.
  • Help to maintain adequate department supply inventory.
  • Support the training process of new associates within the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/GED

Licenses/Certifications: N/A

Experience: 1+ years experience working with the senior population preferred; 1-2+ years of activity engagement with the senior population preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to consistently communicate and express joy, compassion, patience, and professionalism toward residents, resident families and loved ones, third party contractors and vendors, and community associates.
  • Ability to generate interest, excitement, and enthusiasm about activities and events at the community.
  • Ability to use basic technology systems.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
