Position Summary
In this role, you will be responsible for promoting the dignity, independence, self-determination, privacy, choice, and rights of the residents at the community. This role involves assisting residents with activities of daily living, medication reminders, and social and spiritual pursuits. This position will render personal care to residents and monitor their physical and cognitive wellbeing. This position also serves as a mentor as assigned to new associates following the orientation plan of the community.
Essential Functions, Key Duties, & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including but not limited to; bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and medication reminders in accordance with care plans and established community policies and procedures.
- Assist residents with lifting, turning, transferring, positioning, and transporting into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Assist with dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set-up, clean-up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
- Monitor the residents’ physical and cognitive wellbeing and report changes to the nurse and supervisor.
- Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provide resident assistance as needed to ensure intake. Document intake per community policy/procedure.
- Participate in life enrichment programming and providing meaningful activities to residents.
- Document resident care timely and accurately.
- Commit time as a mentor and share expertise to help guide new associates to learn desired skills by completing the following:
- Meet at frequent, regular intervals (as designated by department guidelines) to provide feedback and coaching, evaluate progress, and help resolve problems.
- Help new associate to feel a sense of belonging in the team and organization by fostering relationships with all team members.
- Correct mistakes in a timely and supportive fashion while providing direction on proper procedure and policy.
- Maintain structured mentoring relationship through first year of employment using a positive approach and focusing on strengths while promoting independence and problem solving.
- Monitor progress of new associate, completing mandatory competencies and validates competencies are completed.
- Provide ongoing feedback to supervisor on status of new associate’s progress.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and procedures and any updates.
Position Requirements
Education: High School Diploma/GED
Licenses/Certifications: Current unrestricted license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in practicing state
Experience: 1+ years of experience as a CNA in long term care
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to demonstrate compassion when working with residents.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, including with persons of all ages and
- Strong listening skills and ability to deal with conflict with professionalism and
- Basic computer skills, including ability to navigate electronic medical
