Full Time Monday - Friday

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medicaid Liaison / Finance Assistant to support the Business Office Manager in a long-term care nursing facility. This position plays a critical role in assisting residents and families with the Ohio Medicaid long-term care process while also providing financial and administrative support to the Business Office Manager (BOM).

The ideal candidate will have experience with Medicaid eligibility, strong organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, county agencies, and managed care plans.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Medicaid Liaison & Eligibility Coordination
- Assist residents and families with Ohio Medicaid long-term care applications, redeterminations, and renewals
- Collect, review, and submit required financial and supporting documentation
- Track application status and follow up with County Job and Family Services (CJFS) and the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM)
- Communicate with Medicaid Managed Care Plans (e.g., CareSource, Molina, Buckeye, UnitedHealthcare) as applicable
- Monitor Medicaid approval dates, eligibility changes, and patient liability amounts
- Assist with resolving Medicaid denials, suspensions, and requests for additional information
- Support Medicaid appeals and documentation requests when needed

 Resident & Family Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for residents and families regarding Medicaid and financial questions
- Explain Medicaid rules, spend-down requirements, timelines, and financial responsibilities in a clear and respectful manner
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and facility policies

 Finance Assistant Responsibilities
(Performed under the direction and discretion of the Business Office Manager)

- Provide administrative and financial support to the Business Office Manager
- Assist with accounts receivable functions, including making daily deposits, private pay tracking, and balance follow-up
- Support the setup, maintenance, and reconciliation of resident trust (personal needs) accounts in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Assist with census tracking, billing audits, and financial reports
- Help monitor insurance coverage, eligibility changes, and authorization periods
- Assist with private pay to Medicaid conversions
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records (electronic and paper)
- Support professional and resident-centered collection efforts
- Assist with scanning, filing, mailings, and other administrative business office duties
- Perform additional finance and administrative duties as assigned by the Business Office Manager based on facility needs

 

 Required skills and qualifications:

Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in Medicaid eligibility, healthcare finance, nursing home billing
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines

Preferred:
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or long-term care setting
- Knowledge of Ohio Medicaid long-term care regulations
- Familiarity with patient liability calculations and spend-downs
- Experience working with county agencies and Medicaid managed care plans
- Experience in Point Click Care
