Director of Development - St. Jude House - Full Time   St. Jude House is a non-profit family violence prevention center and 40-bed shelter for adults and their dependent children fleeing domestic abuse.  Founded in 1995 with the commitment and assistance of Crown Point business owner Don Burrell and the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, St. Jude House has been an anchor in Lake County, providing safe haven to over 15,000 survivors since its inception.   Annually, St. Jude House provides over 10,000 shelter nights.  Services include:  24/7 crisis hotline; emergency shelter; case management; mobile advocacy legal advocacy; support groups for adults, and children’s programming.  Prevention education and domestic violence awareness and outreach activities are also conducted throughout the region.    The Director of Development is responsible for the planning, implementing, strengthening, and managing activities and projects aimed at increasing philanthropic support and building greater public awareness of St. Jude House.  While responsibilities of this position include maintaining and enhancing a comprehensive development initiative, the position’s priority is to build and implement a highly effective, results-driven major gifts program.    This key position will report to, work closely, and collaboratively with the Executive Director of St. Jude House to successfully promote St. Jude House’s mission and vision to all its constituents.  In addition work collaboratively with the administration team, St. Jude House Board of Directors, Development Committee, Community Partners and other key external and internal constituents.    Duties and Responsibilities: - Execute an annual development plan to exceed fundraising and revenue goals while including cultivation and stewardship of existing donors. - Through knowledge of the community and research skills, identify and evaluate prospects (individuals, corporations, organizations) for giving potential based on findings, create cultivation strategy, and implement solicitation plan to achieve fundraising goals. - Focus on building major and planned giving programs for individual donors in collaboration with the Executive Director of St. Jude House. - Build and cultivate relationships with both local grant funders (in collaboration with the Senior Grants Manager) and community businesses and organizations to provide funding and in-kind support. - Execute successful major fundraising programs, including Community Partner Program; St. Jude House annual events (Stand Up for St. Jude House, Survivor Celebration) and third-party fundraising opportunities, effectively and efficiently completing activities and meeting target deadlines to meet gift income goals. - Develop a robust annual appeal strategy that includes direct mail, online campaigns and associate giving opportunities.  - Create and manage an intentional stewardship program that brings meaningful recognition and appreciation to all our various donors. - Serve as spokesperson, in collaboration with the Executive Director, Board and Committee members, to the community regarding the charitable needs and programming of St. Jude House. - Ensure fiscal accountability by following the development plan and submitting accurate monthly gift income, activity reports, and quarterly projections to the Executive Director. Required Skills and Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in communications, business administration or other closely related field. - Five to seven years previous experience in fund development, major gifts, special events and board/volunteer management.   Are you ready to write the next chapter of YOUR story? CLIENT ADVISOR - St. Jude House - PRN - As Needed   St. Jude House is a non-profit, 40-bed shelter in Crown Point, Indiana, providing comprehensive services to domestic violence victims and their dependent children. A leader in outreach and community awareness, St. Jude House also provides training with law enforcement, medical/health professionals, social service providers, businesses and schools regarding domestic violence prevention. We are currently looking for a part-time weekend Client Advisor to join our team!    Duties and Responsibilities: - Assists residential clients with daily needs, as requested. Provides appropriate forms to clients, including but not limited to transportation requests, sharing room, and overnight requests.  Distributes toiletries and supplies, assists with phone calls, checks the clients daily job tasks.  - Engages in crisis intervention and completes crisis call logs with caller information for future intakes, support groups, and any outside referrals for services. - Performs conflict resolution with clients. Documents all client interactions on appropriate logs or forms including associate daily activity logs, session notes and incident reports. - Completes initial intake as necessary and orientates new clients to shelter policies and procedures in accordance with the client handbook. Assists clients in exiting the shelter through established procedures including all required paperwork. - Completes daily checklist for shift worked, including updating statistical information and reports such as crisis calls, intakes client exit summaries and other necessary reports. Enters client detail data, census statistics, program statistics, fundraising activities and various other data into the database/software program. Routes information electronically or manually as determined by established process.  Ensures information is sent and retrieved according to established procedure. Assists with historical data reporting as requested by Administration.  Required Skills and Qualifications: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent - One (1) year of customer service experience - Prior experience working with a diverse population - Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology or other related field, preferred - Experience with Domestic Violence population, preferred  Are you ready to write the next chapter of YOUR story?
