Full time Client Advisor with benefits. Evening Position Monday - Sunday 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM
St. Jude House is a non-profit, 40-bed shelter in Crown Point, Indiana, providing comprehensive services to domestic violence victims and their dependent children. A leader in outreach and community awareness, St. Jude House also provides training with law enforcement, medical/health professionals, social service providers, businesses and schools regarding domestic violence prevention. Duties and Responsibilities: Assists residential clients with daily needs, as requested. Provides appropriate forms to clients, including but not limited to transportation requests, sharing room, and overnight requests. Distributes toiletries and supplies, assists with phone calls, checks the clients daily job tasks. Engages in crisis intervention and completes crisis call logs with caller information for future intakes, support groups, and any outside referrals for services. Performs conflict resolution with clients. Documents all client interactions on appropriate logs or forms including associate daily activity logs, session notes and incident reports. Completes initial intake as necessary and orientates new clients to shelter policies and procedures in accordance with the client handbook. Assists clients in exiting the shelter through established procedures including all required paperwork. Completes daily checklist for shift worked, including updating statistical information and reports such as crisis calls, intakes client exit summaries and other necessary reports. Enters client detail data, census statistics, program statistics, fundraising activities and various other data into the database/software program. Routes information electronically or manually as determined by established process. Ensures information is sent and retrieved according to established procedure. Assists with historical data reporting as requested by Administration. Position is Part-Time
Responsibilities:
- Provide accounting services for a small-sized social service agency in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented business environment.
- Assist directors and managers with critical financial information needed to prepare grant budgets and proposals. Create budgets and provide analysis support to St. Jude House management. Play a pro-active role in fiscal planning and financial management.
- Monitor all grant activity for appropriate/allowable charges against budget. Provide oversight on expenses across multiple grants to maximize grant resources for St. Jude House.
- Provide all budget revisions for government grants.
- Ensure compliance with fiscal requirements of grantors.
- Responsible for preparing financial reports and monthly billing for government grants.
- In collaboration with key staff, manage and track budgets for government and foundation grants to ensure maximum utilization of funding resources.
- Coordinate grantor on-site financial audits for St. Jude House programs as required.
- Assist in preparing for the year-end independent financial audit.
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications:

An Associate degree in Accounting, Business or a related field or equivalent job experience.

A minimum of three to five years of experience with fund accounting in a non-profit or government entity is required.

Thorough understanding of GAAP, such as debits and credits, cash versus accrual accounting, etc. are required.

Strong familiarity with private and government grants.

Experience in using a computerized accounting system.

Strong computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software.

Must demonstrate initiative and be self-motivated; able to work independently; have strong attention to detail, and a high standard of excellence.

High degree of creativity, accountability and problem solving skills.
